Safe with us.
We’re moms, dads, sons and daughters, just like you. We’ve reviewed every element of our product, from the device, phone apps, cloud storage, and the connections in between, to ensure we meet or exceed any safety standard currently on the market, so your most precious data is safe and private. If you want to know more, or have a concern we haven’t addressed below, email us at
Bank-level security and encryption.
All connections between your app, Lighthouse device and Amazon Web Services are encrypted with bank level AES-256, 2048-bit keys and secure HTTP access (HTTPS) using TLS/SSL. Two-way talk is encrypted using industry standard DTLS-SRTP.
Encrypted logins and passwords.
Users login using industry leading SRP-6a/PBKDF2 protocol. This means that your passwords are securely encrypted, and are resistant to attacks by potential hackers.
Strict privacy controls.
Your data is your own, period. No one views your footage unless you explicitly give your permission (see our full privacy policy). In addition, you can easily customize settings to disable your camera and microphone at your convenience.
Tamper-proof software.
Lighthouse software is tamper-proof from third-parties, with:
  • Digitally signed bootloader and updates, so outside parties are unable to load their own software onto your device.
  • Key pinning, which allows our software to resist impersonation by outside parties using mis-issued or otherwise fraudulent certificates.
Closed connections.
Bluetooth connections are disabled immediately after Wi-Fi configuration is complete, so third-parties are unable to take over your device remotely via Bluetooth.
Amazon Web Services.
Lighthouse uses Amazon Web Services (AWS), which offers state-of-the-art security measures, to power our cloud storage services. To learn more about AWS security, visit the AWS Security Blog.
